STEAM is a hands-on, project-oriented introductory engineering course for students. The class is a one-credit elective course designed to address national educational standards in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Our goal, together as a team, is to open your mind and gain knowledge in these fields, as well as develop your skills needed for the 21st Century. We will actively engage in solving real-world problems by using prior knowledge, scientific inquiry, content knowledge, and technological design. I ask that you enter with an open mind! The key to making this class successful is creativity, teamwork, communication, and critical thinking.
THINKStudents begin by thinking through the problem, project, or challenge. This practice includes brainstorming, predicting, designing, researching, and MORE!
MAKEStudents then put their thinking into making! This is the heart of their work and the practical and exploratory application.
IMPROVEStudents will constantly analyze their product or project. They may come up with different ways to improve. They may fail. In this way, they circle back to thinking about these improvements.
